GARANTİ GALLERY

Pelin Derviş directed Garanti Gallery, an Istanbul-based cultural institution focused on architecture, design, and urbanism, from 2005 to 2010. During this period, she coordinated exhibitions, co-curated Becoming Istanbul, edited and contributed to publications, and organized public programs and events.

Established in 2011, Salt was built on the assets and institutional experience of Garanti Gallery, Platform Garanti Contemporary Art Center, and the Ottoman Bank Archives and Research Center. Following the closure of the gallery’s physical space in 2008, her work shifted toward the development of Salt. In collaboration with Vasıf Kortun, director of Platform Garanti Contemporary Art Center, she coordinated a 12-part interdisciplinary conference series, researched and compiled book lists for Salt’s library, focusing on architecture, design, and urban studies, and helped define the design program and prepare briefs for the designers of Salt’s spaces in Beyoğlu and Galata. She initiated work on the Architecture and Design Archive.
